Coast FI calculator

Coast FI means you have saved enough that, without adding anything more, your investments grow to your FIRE number by the age you want to retire.

Your figures

The result updates as you change a figure. Nothing you type is saved.

Result

Your Coast FI number today: £295,303

Your FIRE number at retirement: £1,000,000

You are £195,303 short today: with no more saving, your savings grow to £338,635 by age 60.

Your savings alone reach your FIRE number at age 82.2.

All amounts are in today's money.

How this is worked out

Your FIRE number is your yearly spending divided by the withdrawal rate. The Coast FI number is that amount brought back to today at the real return, over the years until you retire.

If your savings already pass the Coast FI number, you only need to earn what you spend until you retire. The page also shows the age at which your savings alone would reach your FIRE number.

Assumptions and limits

A steady real return every year, no taxes, no fees and no withdrawals before retirement.
